Is your organisation winter ready?

To combat the risks associated with cold winter weather and working alone during the festive period, Safe Shores Monitoring is launching our new yearly campaign, Lone Worker Winter Safety Week.

Running from Monday the 7th of December to Friday the 11th of December, Lone Worker Winter Safety Week will provide organisations across a range of industry sectors with varied resources and guidance, with the opportunity to support lone workers to feel safer whilst working alone in winter.

With around 3000 people admitted to hospital each year from winter slips and falls, around 20% of drivers being more likely to be involved in an accident during winter and an overall rise in abuse towards retail workers, especially during the festive period, more can be done to mitigate risks and reassure employees of their safety.

To help, each day this week we will be providing new resources to support lone worker safety during winter. This includes:

  • Risk assessment advice for working in cold weather
  • Tips to avoid slips, trips and falls
  • Driving safely during winter

We will also be providing specific guidance for lone workers in retail, health and social care, transport and logistics and coastal marinas.

Are you prepared for winter? Let us know of your own tips! We’re encouraging all organisations with their own winter safety tips to get involved. Get in touch to let us know what you will be doing during Lone Worker Winter Safety Week and make sure you use the hashtag #WinterSafety across social media!
